Maturity and age.
Does age impact our maturity level ?
We often hear, sometimes on a daily basis, our surroundings talk about ‘maturity’.
It is a very controversial concept in my opinion.
This ‘maturity’ is most of the times, connected to age.
It is sooo connected with age, that governments and societies think that when you turn a certain age, you become immediately more mature.
You, magically, get blessed with this wisdom.
What is maturity ?
According to specialists, Maturity is a level of mental development or wisdom.
Level is a very funny way to put up maturity, and as a video game player, it got me thinking :
If these specialists, think that the definition of maturity is simplified within the word ‘level’ then we all start at some point, and grind within the life lessons, in order to achieve the final level and the desired results.
There is different types of gamers, ones that go steady and slow, and others that learn fast the shortcuts of the game and grind daily. Some take more time than others. Some go through it on speed mode. They may finish earlier!
What I mean by my words, is that some people mature early, way before the birthday, and some mature very slowly, even the day of their 18th birthday, they still are crackheads that want to play, they are still looking for fun and learning from life. We are 8 billion different souls living within a planet, different characters, different DNA and mental skills, different environments and surroundings.
In my opinion, we should not rely on age for maturity, rather the mental capability and social skills. Responsibility factor is also very important, and has got to be taken in count when judging someone’s maturity.
It is in fact very complicated to separate both parameters on a national-governmental scale, but if we just implant this new concept in our daily lives, we can surely achieve these changes, and hopefully break this social construct.
Maturity has absolutely nothing to do with age.
